Feature Request – Action Filter on Images in Quick Sight Text Box

Hello Team,

I’d like to request a new feature in Quick Sight that would greatly enhance dashboard interactivity. Currently, in a text box, we can add and format text, but it would be very useful if we could paste or insert an image inside a text box and enable an action filter on that image.

Use Case:

  • Place a custom image (icons, logos, process visuals, etc.) in a text box.

  • Assign an action filter (similar to how we enable it on visuals) to that image.

  • This would allow dashboards to have a more intuitive and user-friendly navigation experience.

This feature would help in creating visually engaging dashboards where images themselves act as interactive elements for filtering or navigating.

Thank you in advance for considering this request.

Hi @ArnaJi88

Thank you for the new feature request.

But we can achieve this using an image directly - Just curious to know if you have tried uploading an image directly and then add action filter to it. This works as like your use case.

Let me know if this helps

Thank you,

Shravya

Hi Shravya,

Thanks for responding & I appreciate your quick response but i wanted little different feature -

Let me break down my requirement into two clear features as below

Feature Request Breakdown

:one: Insert Image in Text Box

  • Currently, the Quick Sight text box supports only text and limited formatting.

  • Request: Please enable the ability to insert/paste images inside a text box.

  • Use Case: Add icons, process visuals, or branding elements directly within the text box for better dashboard design.

:two: Enable Action Filters on Text Box (including images inside it)

  • Currently, action filters can be applied only to visuals, not to text boxes.

  • Request: Please enable action filters on text boxes so that clicking text or images inside them can trigger a filter or navigation action.

  • Use Case: Allow images or styled text in the text box to act as interactive filter controls, improving dashboard interactivity and navigation.

Thank you

@Deep @Brett - Could you please review this and make it a feature request?

Hi @ArnaJi88,

I will mark this as a feature request but there is an additional work around you could explore for this scenario.

In regards to pictures, you can upload visuals to a public folder (like in S3 for example), which will then provide you with a url for the picture. Add those url’s into your dataset so that they are accessible through Quick Sight.

Next, create a table visual and add the field that contains the picture url’s.
Under the properties of your table visual, you can ‘Edit Field Styling’ and show url’s as images:

You can then do some additional formatting on your visual to hide the title, header cells, border, etc. so that your visual is narrowed down to the one field/picture you’d like to use.

Additionally, you can do something similar with text/font. I have put together an example in Arena on how to essentially achieve an action button that allows you to navigate around. You can view it here: Creating and Utilizing Buttons. When you open the link, make sure to hit the ‘Copy Analysis’ button on the left side; that will allow you to see the logic that went in to their creation.

Hi @ArnaJi88,
While I’ve marked this as a feature request already, following up here to check if you had any additional questions or if the work around I suggested was viable for your case?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!

Hi @ArnaJi88,

Since we have not heard back, I’ll go ahead and close out this topic. However, if you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community.
