I am exploring the Forecasting feature in QuickSight with a simple line visual.
I have a dataset with passenger data with the flight time. I am trying to get a forecast by hour for the next 2 weeks using a line chart.
My actual data has the usual ups and downs by hour in passenger data. However, when I see the forecast data I don’t see this pattern being recognized. There is just an upwardly trend shown in the forecast.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Am I am missing something in the setup?
I have not changed much to the default settings other than specifying the forecast period and periods backward. In the periods backward I see the forecast line shows the trend, but in the future time period there is just an upwardly trend.

Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu - Good spot. Is it possible to share the sample data so that we can replicate this.
Regards - Sanjeeb
Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu. Checking in. We have not heard back from you regarding your question. We’d still like to help. If we do not hear back in the next 3 days, we will archive the question. In case you need further assistance with your problem, please create a sample dashboard with sample dataset showing your problem state using Arena and post it here. (Details on using Arena can be found here - QuickSight Arena).
@Xclipse Please use the dashboard below to look at the issue.

Hi @Sanjeeb2022 – please can you see if you can assist @Giridhar.Prabhu – he has the sample data in Arena now. Thanks, Alex
Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu - Thanks for sharing the details. I checked this link, I believe the forecast is giving correct result for next set of intervals ( Not all) and by default it is populating the graph increasing order. Its bit misleading in understanding.
Hi @Xclipse - Is it possible to review this by an internal team of QS. Thanks.
Regards - Sanjeeb
@Sanjeeb2022 @Xclipse
Thanks for checking. The issue I have with the forecast produced is that it does not seem to recognize the pattern that is happening during the hours of a day. Across all the days there is a pattern of highs and lows that happens and I am not able to understand why that is not being recognized.
@Giridhar.Prabhu, I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
