Additional functionality such as changing background, hiding borders of visuals, etc which are present/enabled when my sheet layout is in ‘Free-Form’ mode, is not available in ‘Tiled’ mode. while Tiled mode is easier and friendly to use, lack of functionality in it makes it hard to customize.
how to rectify this. is there a workaround for this?
Hi @sandeep.k,
The features differing per layout option is by design as those features would be the reason why you would choose one over the other. Each layout type has different features that make it differ from the others and allow the user to operate from different options; these can be found here:
As the features you listed are specific to free-form, it may be unlikely that those features get implemented in to Tiled mode;
However, you mentioned that you feel like Tiled mode is more friendly to use; what about that layout do you feel makes it easier to use? Maybe it’s something we can post a feature request to be added into free-form mode instead of the other way around.
Yes, ‘Tiled’ mode is easier to use as it shifts other visuals automatically when I move one (as compared to moving a visual from bottom to top in ‘Free form’ mode, where I have to drag each visual one by one below to achieve the same thing).
Also, in ‘Free form’ mode, the default snapping grid is too wide spaced as compared to ‘Tiled’ mode, makes the visuals look too far apart. Ofcourse, I can use arrow keys to drag, but to do that for all visuals is tiresome. (any way around that?)
Basically, (1) ‘Tiled’ mode is friendly and perfect (but lacks any customization). (2) ‘free from’ mode is customizable but very hard to use.
so my feature request will be: ‘Tiled’ mode + All customization features from ‘free from’ mode. Name it ‘Hybrid mode’ (I will take the naming credits )
