How can I place dimension into color self?

Hi Team,

I have dataset with contains 1 dimension (metric category) and 1 metric (metric fact), using these I have built the bar chart: “metric category wise metric fact”.

Here my requirement is I want to color coding the bar chart with metric category, when I was trying to put that dimension (metric category) into color self, Quick Sight not allowing me, I got error like “this field already in dimension field well”.

So that I have created one calculation field called “color” and formula is color=ifelse({metric_category}=‘BIC’,‘B’,{metric_category}=‘Procurement’,‘P’,‘others’).

When I put/drag and drop this calc field into color self, bar chart labels are going to disordering. My requirement is color coding the viz with metric category. could you please help me to in this scenario,
please see the below screen shot for your reference.

Thanks & Regards

Hi @Cnagabhairava,

You can achieve this without a calculated field (and actually without a field in the ‘color’ section at all). Select the 3 dots next to your ‘metric category’ field and then hit ‘edit field colors’:
