How do I auto-populate the "Recipient Email" field in a Flow's Slack action with the user who ran the Flow?

When configuring the “Send Message to User” Slack action in a Quick Flow, the “Recipient Email” field requires manual entry. How can I configure this field to automatically populate with the email address of the user who executed the Flow?

Hi @dngdn and welcome to the Quick Community!

I have not had much experience in regard to using slack actions in flows, but I have had some experience with using outlook actions and I believe they may behave in similar ways. So with utilizing an outlook action, you can write in the prompt a specific recipient email and flows does a good job at recognizing that and automatically populating the email address. However that is only in the instance where the recipient email is static or not changing based on who is executing the flows.

For your instance, I do not think it is currently possible to have the email address be automatically populated based on the user that executed the flows. You can try to test it out in the prompt of the action step, but I do not think this function is supported in flows. With that said, I will attach the ‘feature-tag’ to this post to help increase visibility to the quick suite team.

Thanks Jacob for the quick response. My current workaround is to have an additional Flow step - for a Phonetool integration to retrieve my own email. Ideally looking to avoid an additional action step.

Hi @dngdn ,

I think your workaround is probably best given Flows’ current limitations. Like I said, I have attached the ‘feature-request’ tag to this post to help increase visibility to the Quick team. I would recommend keeping an eye out at the ‘What’s New’ page as that is where new features are announced (Latest What’s New topics - Amazon Quick Community).
