How do I structure the data for this waterfall chart?

Hi! I feel like Ive tried everything, but cant seem to be able to replicate this visual in Quicksight.

Im hoping someone can share exactly how this data should be structured (with some fake numbers) for me to load into the chart, since I am unable to wrap my head around the category/breakdown/value fields.

Hello asdf1,

Welcome to the Quick Sight community.

Please see the char types here to get some idea not sure if it helps though - https://democentral.learnquicksight.online/#Dashboard-FeatureDemo-Chart-Types

Hi

Thanks for the link, this is a great resource! I have seen the thread you shared and it seems like my situation is a bit more complicated because the breakdowns are not repeating amongst categories. Is there a workaround for this? I cant seem to get the data in the right format.

Hi @asdf1,

Hope this message finds you well! Just checking back in since this thread hasn’t had a response in a while. Were you able to find a workaround for the waterfall chart in the meantime or are you still running into persistent issues? If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll go ahead and close out of this topic.

Thank you!

no. I never found a solution.

Hi @asdf1,

This is a very basic data structure, but I believe the one depicted below should correspond to making the waterfall chart that you want. Once imported, you would put Column A as the Category (Prior Period MOQ and Total ARR are used as the baselines), Column B as the Breakdown for those baselines, and Column C as the respective Values. Hope this helps!
