You could do something like this… use a free form layout and stack the layers if you want to show multiple labels per day… day of the week headers etc.

I have a visual in Tableau, which is a line graph customized to resemble a calendar. The visualization includes numbers where each number’s color is blue. The shade of blue varies based on the value: the number 0 is the lightest shade, and as the numbers increase, the color shade becomes progressively darker.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the Tableau visualization for reference.
