Is the 32-times-per-24-hours CreateIngestion limit applied per dataset or per AWS account?

Hello,

I’m trying to understand the rate limit behavior of CreateIngestion for SPICE datasets in Amazon QuickSight.

According to the official documentation, an Enterprise edition account can manually refresh datasets up to 32 times in a 24-hour period using CreateIngestion.
However, it is not completely clear to me how this limit is applied in practice.

Specifically, I would like to confirm the following:

  • Is the 32 times / 24 hours limit applied per individual dataset, meaning each dataset can be refreshed up to 32 times?

  • Or is the limit shared across the entire AWS account (and region), meaning the total number of CreateIngestion calls across all datasets cannot exceed 32 times within 24 hours?

For example, if an account has multiple SPICE datasets:

  • Does refreshing Dataset A 20 times and Dataset B 12 times already reach the limit?

  • Or would each dataset have its own independent 32-times-per-day quota?

If there is any official documentation or clarification from the QuickSight team regarding this behavior, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @candemina,

Welcome to the Quick Suite Community! As indicated in this older post, the 32 limit should be per dataset.

Hope this helps!
