I have several KPIs on my dashboard that are “clickable,” which causes the entire dashboard to be filtered. Is there a way to disable this clickability?
I previously tried overlaying the KPIs with a “Free-form” text box; it worked, but it wasn’t ideal. Now that I’ve switched to a responsive (Classic) layout, the text box solution is no longer viable.
Can you please define what you mean by '“clickable” for your KPI visuals? My guess would be that you may have accidentally attached a Filter Action to the visual and that is what is causing your dashboard to be filtered when clicking. Additionally, I have attached a previous community post that talks about a potentially similar instance to yours that you can check out (Clicking a KPI visual grays out all other visuals - Q&A - Amazon Quick Community).
Yes, currently when I click a KPI, the rest of the dashboard grays out. The solution you suggested for editing the interactions works, but it also prevents me from clicking on other widgets, which is a bit overkill for what I need.
Regarding the filters, I obviously have filter controls located directly under the KPIs.
Unfortunately, the dashboard ‘greying out’ is common behavior after clicking on a KPI because after clicking on it, quicksight then is natively trying to filter to only show the same data as what was in the KPI. And if there is not the same specific data in the sheet then everything turns grey. From what I can tell, the solution I gave in my previous response is the only way to stop your sheet from turning grey out in its entirety. Or you can potentially add an action to the KPI so it takes over its native select action.
One thing is typically selecting KPIs is not a common instinct for users to do unless you set up your dashboard that encourages or requires them to do so. Therefore, the grey out behavior may not be something your users experience.
