We have introduced a new database schema, but we have QuickSight dashboards using datasets based on Athena views. We tried to edit dataset definitions, but we can see no way to make the datasets point to new view names with the new schema.
So we think the only option we have is to create a new set of dataset definitions and then recreate all the dashboards from scratch.
Does anyone know of a better option?

I don’t think you will need to recreate any of your dashboards. You may have to recreate the datasets, but don’t delete the current datasets that are being used in your dashboards.
You can swap datasets in active dashboards. I would recommend creating new datasets using the updated schema, creating duplicate analyses of your active dashboards and testing the data swaps there.
