More enhancements needed from the QuickSight side?

Hi Community,

As a QuickSight developer, we need more functionalities and features when developing analyses and dashboards. Below are some of the basic features we need:

In the current market, multiple BI tools are evolving, but as per my experience, I am facing some challenges when building analyses in QuickSight.

  1. Layout
  • We have two options to select from: Tiled and Free-Form, which is fine, but the size options are limited.
  • In the size options, there are width settings available, but height settings are not.
  • In the Free-Form segment, if you could also add height options, it would provide a clearer picture when selecting the layout.
  1. KPI Card No Tooltip
  • We have the KPI Card visual type available, and in the latest release, we can add the trend as a Progress Bar, Area Spark Line, and Spark Line.
  • However, the tooltip option is not available for this visual type. If the trend feature is available to implement, then having a tooltip is essential; without it, the trend feature is less useful.
  1. Partitioning the Field List in QuickSight Analysis Area
  • In the QuickSight Analysis area, all the Dimension fields and Measure fields are in a single section. It would be better if there were two sections.
  • Additionally, can we add a filter in the search bar to see Dimension columns, Measure columns, and Calculated Field columns separately? Searching and separating default columns from calculated field columns is a very manual process, requiring a lot of scrolling.
  1. Calculated Field Window Minimize Button
  • As we always focus on customer experience, I have highlighted this problem many times in this community forum: please add a minimize button for the Calculated Field window.
  • During calculations, if we forget something and want to reference it somewhere else, we cannot close and reopen the window every time. This is very inconvenient for developers based on my experience.

I think these points highlight the challenges I face in my day-to-day work. If you could address these issues and provide feedback on your future enhancement plans, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @Biswajit_1993, I honestly think this is very well articulated, constructive, and honest feedback regarding some of the daily inconveniences we face as QuickSight authors. We have definitely seen a lot of improvements to the UI and certain functionalities in QuickSight but I caught myself nodding my head in agreement when reading a few of the points you mentioned above.

I am happy to keep this thread open receive input from other community members or the individuals you have tagged. In order to keep replies open but ensure this topic is considered closed, I will mark my response as the solution and tag this as a feature request for our support team.

Hi @DylanM ,Thanks for looking into the issue. I’ve been using QuickSight for the past 2.5 years, and while there have been many updates and new features added, I’m still encountering some basic issues that I’ve raised multiple times before. This morning, I ran into the same problem again. I believe addressing these issues in the platform is crucial. Could we prioritize updates for these small issues? Enhancing these areas would make QuickSight even more flexible and a standout tool in the market.
