I have admin permissions in my organization and need to share an Amazon QuickSight dashboard with different users so they can access the developed dashboards.
On the Manage tab, I can add users to my environment by entering their email addresses. Each user then receives an email and must follow the steps to create their account.
However, some users are having trouble creating their accounts. In the first step, where they are asked to enter a username, they input their email address but receive the following message:
“The account name uniquely identifies your account in QuickSight. Please refer to your email inviting you to join QuickSight or contact your QuickSight administrator if you are unsure of your account name.”
I have resent the invitation several times, but the same issue persists. For other users, it works fine; it’s just a small group that is unable to create their accounts.
Do you have any suggestions on how I can address this? Many thanks!
I think they’re getting the account name and their username mixed up. The account name that the message is referring to is the name of the AWS account - it’s not their username. The account name is in the email that they received but I think it’s easy to miss. If you open the dropdown menu at the top right of your QuickSight console, you’ll see the account name above “Manage QuickSight”. Ask them to enter that in the first step.
To log in, they have to enter 3 different pieces of information:
QuickSight account name
Email address or username
Password
The account name is needed because the same email address or username can be used in different QuickSight subscriptions.
