Quicksight Import visuals , deleting analysis calculated fields

When i Import a visual, my existing dataset calculated fields are removed. Please help

Hello @Andrew_Smith , welcome to the Quick Sight community!

Are the calculated fields from the source analysis or did you create them in the data prep before using the dataset in an analysis?

My assumption is that if you created the calculated fields on the analysis layer that they are not imported to the destination along with the visual.

Hi @WLS-D I have the same problem- as I see that @Andrew_Smith didn’t reply - I’ll try to shed more light:

I have two sets of datasets with the same data structure only difference is one show daily aggregations and one shows weekly data.

my aim is to create one dashboard with two identical sheets one for daily and the other for weekly views.

I created a dashboard with the daily sheet. while doing that I created several calculated fields on the analysis level.

Next, I duplicated this analysis (save as “weekly”) and replaced all the daily datasets with the weekly equivalents.

lastly, I went back to the daily analysis, added a new “weekly” sheet and started importing the visuals from the weekly analysis - the visuals were added successfully, along with their datasets including the calculated fields - whoever, the calculated fields on the daily datasets are now gone!

That’s what Andrew meant when saying “my existing dataset calculated fields are removed”

any idea how to manage that?
