Unable to fetch filter values./Calculated Field inavlid syntax

Hello Team,

Today I encountered a confusing issue with one of my Direct Query datasets. Here’s the context:

  • I’ve been using this dataset to power a table visual for the past 3 months without any issues.
  • Suddenly, I’m now seeing the following errors:
  1. Filter Error: “Unable to fetch filter values. Refresh later or use the ‘Custom filter list’.”
  2. Visual Error: “Your calculated field has invalid syntax.”

What’s puzzling is that there are no calculated fields in this table—only direct columns from the dataset.

I’ve tried refreshing and rechecking the dataset, but the issue persists. If anyone has seen something similar or has suggestions, I’d appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Karthika_G

Try debugging by adding a new visual in your analysis and include fields one by one.
This could be due to some data issues in your fields.

Giri

Thank you @Giridhar.Prabhu. I tried to debug. No problem with any columns when I add columns one by one. But When I try to create filter with id (integer) column it is giving issue.

Can you share the details of the error you are getting?

Got solved @Giridhar.Prabhu . But I don’t know how because I did nothing, automatically the error solved . How is this possible?

Hi @Karthika_G,
It’s hard to say exactly why it may have started working without anything done to it, there may have just been a small bug in the system.
If it ends up happening again, I would suggest creating a support ticket so that you can report the erratic behavior to the AWS support team.

Thank you!

Thank you @Brett , I will definitely do that.
