"we can't parse this SQL Syntax" message received on Dashboard view

I have access to a Dashboard for viewing open Purchase Orders. However, when I click on “Update Visuals”, I receive a message indicating “we can’t parse this SQL Syntax.” Any suggestions for a resolution?

Are you also the owner of the dashboard/have author capabilities to edit? This message normally occurs when there is an issue with the custom SQL or dataset query.
A couple quick questions, are you running on SPICE or Direct Query? Additionally, what type of datasource is being used?

If you are unfamiliar with any SQL that has been utilized for the dataset, I would suggest your best option would be to raise this issue with the author of the dashboard as they would have the best working knowledge on where the error is occurring.
