Date Drill up / down option suddenly stopped showing up

I don’t know why, but recently the ability to drill up / down on my date fields has disappeared. This has happened for multiple accounts that I use QuickSight for. I can select the date aggregation to whatever I want when creating charts, but when I right click (control + click) on the chart, it now only allows me to “focus on ___” and doesn’t give any other option like drill up / down.

This used to work without issue. I don’t know what changed. In the images below you can see that only “focus on” shows. And the date field is set up as a date correctly (it wont let me post 2 images so i will try to post this image in a comment)

When I publish the dashboard, the “allow drill up / down” option is checked.

Any idea what is happening?

Hi @bloomdata

welcome to the community :fireworks:

The drill up / drill up function of dimensions is not available for pivot tables and tables.

Since the date hierarchy is special (automatically created) I am not sure if it has been possible to use the drill down function for dates in tables/privot tables.

Are you sure you used that function in a table before?

Best regards,
Nico

Hi @bloomdata, that’s correct, the date field must have the default hierarchies.

Date field here

Hi Nico-

I am 100% sure I have used it in tables before. But the feature doesn’t show up in charts anymore either.

I had originally set up certain tables such that the end user could drill up / down between day / week / month without having to make a table for each. This worked fine until recently when the option just disappeared.

Some tables I had even created a note saying “dates can drill up / down in granularity” because I had tested that feature while creating the table.

Not that it makes any difference, but I primarily use the “table” chart over the “pivot table” option.

Hi @bloomdata ,

thank you for your detailed explanation.

The function should be there. Do you have the option of opening a ticket with your technical support?

Best regards,
Nico

I don’t know how to open a ticket, or that there is even technical support available. Do you know where I can find these options?

hi @bloomdata ,

Can you please go to the below link, follow the process, and raise the support ticket.
