Error in loading dataset

I am loading data from an existing data source and I am getting the followng error.
Your database generated a SQL exception. This can be caused by query timeouts, resource constraints, unexpected DDL alterations before or during a query, and other database errors. Check your database settings and your query, and try again.

Hi Kirajos, according to the error message, it seems an access control error. Please refer to this page, check if Quicksight use a proper role or use Redshift credentials to access the source cluster.

If the issue remain unresolved, please create a support case from the account that this error occurred. AWS support engineer will be able to check internal parameters and error to guide you what’s missing. Thanks.

Hi @kirajos - Welcome to AWS QuickSight community and thanks for posting the question. Is it possible to provide more information about your data sets.

  1. What is the data source , is it redshift?
  2. Are you using the custom SQL to get the data?
  3. If yes, can you please run the sql by connecting redshift directly ( using any client tool) and see how much time it is taking to give the result.
  4. If the sql is not tuned or poor performing, you may observe timeout issue and in that case QS is not able to fetch the data. By default the timeout value for a direct query is 2 Mins ( not 100% sure although)

Regards - Sanjeeb
