Not able to publish Dashboard after deleting a dataset

Hello, I recently deleted a dataset which i was using in the analysis and created a new one to replace it. However, anytime I try to publish a dashboard for that analysis, it doesn’t allow me saying:

“The datasets below have been newly created or edited and are currently being imported. Please wait until the data import process finishes.”

for the old dataset that was already deleted.

Can anyone please help with this? This has been happening from past few days since the deletion of the dataset and we really need to publish the dashboard.

Hi @abhtriv,

Was the refresh for the new dataset in progress when you were trying to publish the dashboard? That’s what that message is saying.

Hi @David_Wong , the dataset that its showing the message for is already deleted. Still it shows the message that that particular dataset is being refreshed.

Hi @abhtriv

Its strange that the dataset could be deleted when there was an analysis refering to it.

Can you see any reference to this deleted dataset in your analysis when you go to Data > Datasets menu item?

Giri

Hi @abhtriv

To publish the dashboard, you just need to remove that dataset from the analysis, and you were able to publish the dashboard.

To remove the dataset in analysis, on datasets >> manage datasets and remove the dataset from the list that have been already deleted.

I hope this will work for you.

Hi @abhtriv,

First of all, thanks for reaching out to the best platform where we can help each other.

Here’s my suggestion: please try the following steps from scratch:

As @Sahid_Muhammad mentioned, please first check whether the newly replaced dataset is properly highlighted.

  1. Create a new analysis based on the newly created dataset. Check if the same error message appears or if it works perfectly.
  2. If it works perfectly, then go to Manage Dataset, click on the three-dot menu, and replace the dataset.

Note: The most important thing when replacing the dataset is to check the query mode—whether it’s Direct Query or SPICE. If your old dataset was in SPICE mode and the newly replaced dataset is in Direct Query mode, you will encounter an error.

Please follow these basic steps. I believe this should resolve the issue. If you still face any problems, feel free to reach out in the discussion.

Thanks & Regards,
Biswajit Dash
