Potential BUG: Control with multi-select selected but analysis is showing all values in dataset

I’ve got a parameter called CampaignId which is set to include two static values (100 and 101). I setup a filter on the dashboard which should apply to all visuals that is set to equal the value of the CampaignId parameter. Additionally I’ve created a Control on the page that references the CampaignId parameter and has specific values set (100 and 101). “Hide Select All” checkbox is selected.

When the analysis first loads I see the correct and expected number of results (filtered to show only campaign 100 and 101). If, however, I de-select and re-select one of the values in the CampaignId Control, suddenly it shows every single record in my database and seems to disregard the selection. Is this a bug??

Hello @JustinL, welcome to the QuickSight Community! I think there are a few things that could be causing the issue here. What I have gathered is you have a multiselect parameter, linked to a control, that then filters all visuals for CampaignId parameter that contains 2 default values 100 and 101.

In the control, are the values linked to a field from your dataset or are the options just the 2 static values that you mentioned?

I’d be interested to see screenshots of your Parameter, Control, and Filter information if possible to see where the connection issue is happening. Another option would be to set up your datasets with Row Level Security in QuickSight to ensure that users will never be able to view information that does not exist within those 2 customerIDs. I’ll link documentation on how to set up RLS here.
