Recently, some co-owners of the analysis have edited the analysis, which caused errors during the email report generation steps. As a result, we realized that we need to better understand the Audit History, Revert, and Backup processes for Analysis.
We have a few questions:
Audit History:
We would like to know where we can check the Audit History, such as who made edits and what changes were made.
We understand that some information is available in AWS CloudTrail, but it does not provide detailed information about the exact changes made. Is there a way to view this information in the UI or in a more visual way?
Backing Up Analysis:
We want to back up our analysis periodically so that if someone accidentally breaks it, we can revert to the last version. I noticed that we can duplicate the analysis, but this has to be done manually. Is there another way to achieve this automatically, so it saves periodically?
Reverting Changes:
Is it possible to revert a specific visual instead of reverting the entire dashboard?
Thank you in advance! Looking forward to your response.
Hi @yhfang and Welcome to the QuickSight community!
From an auditing information stand point, there are limitations to what can be provided; from my understanding, seeing what changes have been made are not an option. However, there is the ‘Admin Console Dashboard’ that can be utilized to find certain information regarding access and usage.
For back up; currently there is not an available feature that automatically creates copies of your analysis. I would suggest that any time updates are made, they are done on copy versions as to avoid this instance.
Reverting changes; similar to above, this is also not an available feature at this time. Other than hitting the ‘undo’ button, there’s no way to revert only a single visual.
Overall, I think you’ve pointed out some features that would make nice additions so I’ll mark this as a feature request to promote visibility to the support team.
Hi @yhfang,
Since we have not heard back, I’ll go ahead and close out this topic. However, if you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community and link this discussion for relevant information if needed.
