Is there a way to create separations between the different visuals (by borders or put different colors per visual)?

You should be able to do this using the free form layout:

if you edit the theme, and select the layout preferences, there is an option ‘gutter’ that may work for you.

you can use the property of the visual to change the background , border and alternate colours. QS recently launched it.
This vedio will show you the how to use the visual property.
