Based on what factors I can decide the AWS Quicksight infra cost. I am using AWS infrastructure already, there are around 75 reports needs to be designed and approximately 20 users should have read or view permission on reports? is there any type of cost i need to consider for Quicksight apart from user license cost which $3 per user ?
Hi @vibhu22oct,
There are a number of factors that can affect the pricing, but if you still need to create the reports, you will need some form of authoring license as well. You can also consider capacity pricing as an option; but it would be contingent on what fits your needs best. Check out the full pricing structure below:
Hello,
When determining AWS QuickSight infrastructure costs, you need to consider the pricing model you choose - either user-based pricing or capacity pricing.
For user-based pricing, there is a fixed cost per user ($3 or $20) regardless of how many dashboards they access
Beyond the license fees, you should also consider potential additional costs from querying data through services like Athena, Redshift Spectrum, or SPICE.
To monitor these costs, you can ingest the Cost and Usage Report into Amazon QuickSight. You can also analyze Athena query logs to visualize query usage and calculate associated costs.
For your specific case with 75 reports and 20 users with read permissions, if you choose the user-based pricing model with reader licenses at $3 per user, you would have the base license cost, but should also account for any data querying costs depending on which AWS services you’re using as data sources.

Hi @RajKavuda ,
how i would determine whether user based license is needed or i should go with capacity based license?
Hi @vibhu22oct ,
Please use the AWS Pricing calculator ( AWS Pricing Calculator ) to estimate your costs by user or capacity pricing to make that determination.
Thanks,
