Hi,
We own a QuickSight enterprise account and support a large user base. We have enabled QuickSight Q feature for our customers and noticed a huge spike in cost. We want to understand if there is any way we can track the QuickSight Q adoption or usage.
We want to see how many are using this feature, also can this feature be enabled to a certain group or users. Currently QuickSight Q enabling/disabling is at account level resulting heavy cost although very small population require this feature.
Hi @PraveenKumar
By adding on Q, your account incurs an additional $10 in fees per author on the account. Given that you mention a large user base, this is what I’d guess is driving your costs. Unfortunately, there is no way to limit Q access for authors today, just like you can’t prohibit specific authors from creating analyses and datasets.
The other factor is a $250 fee per month per region, which covers hosting costs.
All other costs are usage-based. It is unlikely that we publish user names to the CUR, however you should be able to use the User Activity tab within each Q topic to see which users are asking questions.
Hope this helps. One question for you - can you say more about “very small population require this feature”: do you mean only a small number of authors need to be able to create Q topics?
Hi Crease,
Thank you for your response.
I mean to say, although our author population is large, people who actually need Q is less. So I was thinking if we can have a control around it
Got it, thanks for the context @PraveenKumar . Apologies that we cannot accommodate this use case today, but I will report back if we prioritize any changes to our pricing and authz models in the future.
